DATE OF BIRTH: 15 Feb 1915 Maxwell, Hancock Co., IN DATE OF DEATH: 22 Feb 2002 Franklin, Johnson Co., IN Franklin Daily Journal 26 Feb 2002 FRANKLIN Aliene (Weber) Shipley Aliene (Weber) Shipley, 87, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Johnson Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of Franklin. She was born Feb. 15, 1915, in Maxwell. Her parents were Benjamin Franklin and Emma (Murnan) Weber. She married David Shipley 64 years ago. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Connie Butler of Columbus and Ann Wilcoxon of Wilkinson; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh and Wallace Weber. She was a graduate of Charlottesville High School and Central Normal College in Danville. She taught at Eden and Charlottesville schools. She was also employed by Shipley Insurance. She was a member of the Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church in Shirley; Shirley Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star 492; Lilac Literary Club in Wilkinson; and Nameless Creek Literary Club, Toastmistress Club and Tri Kappa, all in Greenfield. She loved to play piano and was an avid fisherman. In 1933, she took second place in an amateur typing competition at the Chicago World’s Fair. The Rev. Kurt Stone will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Eastern Star Services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church.
