Mrs. Jacob A. Sheek, a good Christian woman, died at her home near here Monday afternoon, leaving a husband and nine children, the eldest 21 and the youngest 2 years old.

The funeral of Mrs. Jacob A. Sheek occurred at the Methodist church Wednesday morning.

Death of Mrs. Sheek.

Martha E., wife of Jacob A. Sheek, died at her home near Greenwood, April 26th, age 43 years, 11 months and twenty six days. Deceased was born in Forsythe County, N. C. and came to Johnson county about 24 years ago. She was married over 22 years ago. She was the mother of twelve children, nine of whom are left to mourn her death. She was a humble and true Christian woman, who gave her life for the happiness and good of others. She had been a faithful member of the M. E. church for 32 years, and the large and sympathizing crowd of friends at her funeral was evidence of the esteem in which she was held.

Her death was caused by a disease of the liver and stomach. Funeral services were conducted by Revs. Westhafer, Burton, Robertson and Jones.

[Church] Sheek, their children, four-year-old Indiana-born Pearl and two-year-old Indiana-born Carl Sheek, and Martha’s brother, fourteen-year-old North Carolina-born laborer Flint Church.
