Alex Shannon died at the insane hospital Thursday and was brought here for burial Saturday. Mr. Shannon was a member of the M. E. church, was an excellent citizen and was much respected by all who knew him. He had been in the asylum but a short time. His wife and children have the entire sympathy of friends and neighbors.

The 1880 US Federal Census for Hensley, Johnson, Indiana records forty-eight-year-old, Pennsylvania-born Alexander Shannon, his forty-one-year-old, Indiana-born wife Aria [sic Arah] Shannon and their Indiana-born children, seventeen-year-old Samuel W., fifteen-year-old Cordelia and twelve-year-old William R. Shannon.
