Matthew Sedgwick, of Boggstown, died Saturday night from paralysis, age 75 years.

Rev. Matthew Sedgwick died at his residence in Brandywine township, at three o’clock p.m., Saturday August 31, 1895. Deceased was born in Ross township, Butler county, Ohio, March 3, 1820. He was married in Franklin county this state, November 22, 1843 to Martha Reese and moved to this county in 1852. To their union was born nine children, six of whom are living and three being dead. J. R. Sedgwick, of this city, Lizzie Ham, wife of Mitchell Ham, M. H. Sedgwick, M. E., wife of Gilbert Williams; Riley S. Sedgwick and Ida, the youngest daughter at home. The deceased children are Martha J. Sedgwick, Margaret O. Sedgwick and infant son. Deceased has always been a very active member of the M. E. church. A lover of justice and upright living, holding dear tenets of the Christian faith free handed and generous hearted where merit pleased, respected by all acquaintances, the deceased leaves a record which is worthy of emulation and a memory that should be most comforting to the loved ones now of his presence bereft. The funeral was held at the residence in Brandywine township at two o’clock p.m. Monday September 2, by the Rev. Cohagen, assisted by other ministers. Interment in the Pinhook cemetery. D. B.
