==============================

Not Suicide.

Mrs. Scrugham, wife of Edward Scrugham, who is now serving a sentence at Jeffersonville for attempted rape, died Monday evening about five o’clock at the home of her mother in the northeast part of the city. It was reported that she had taken carbolic acid with suicidal intent. This charge is without any foundation. She has been subject to epilepsy and her death was doubtless due to one of these attacks. She leaves two children, a girl three years old and a boy eight years old. She was buried at Kansas, Bartholomew county.

Note: The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index 1882-1920 records on page 180, referencing Book H‑17, page 28, that Mary Scrugham, a 37-year-old white female, died on 13 Jun 1895 in Franklin.
