EDINBURGH — Word has been received here of the death of Julian Scobee, 83, Redlands, Calif. An Edinburg resident from 1939 to 1959, he died Wednesday in Portland, Ore.

Scobee and his wife, Elsie, came to Edinburg in 1939 when he bought a hardware store. They later moved to Florida and then California. He was a farmer in his early life. While in Edinburg he belonged to the Grange and Oddfellows and Masonic Lodges. He was a member of Redlands Christ­ian Church.

Memorial services were to be conducted today in Portland with burial to be at Redlands.

Scobee was born Jan. 2, 1894, near Quincey. His wife, the former Elsie Long of Bloomington, died in 1973.

Survivors include a son, Robert Scobee of Redlands; a granddaughter. Elaine Walsman of Greenwood, and several great-grandchildren.

ornia.
  Mr. Scobee  and
his wife, the for-
mer Elsie Long of

In 1959 they moved
to Ellenton, Flori-
da, and later to
Redlands, Calif-
ornia, where Mrs.
Scobee died.
  He was a farmer
in his early years.
He belonged to the
Edinburg Odd Fell-
ows Lodge, the Ed-
inburg Masonic
Lodge and the Gra-
nge. He also was a
member of the Red-
lands Christian
Church.
  Memorial services
were conducted in
Portland and burial
was at Redlands.
