The funeral of Mrs. Sally occurred at Shiloh, Sunday afternoon. Deceased was a native of Kentucky, but had resided in this neighborhood for a number of years.
Notes:Kentucky, County Marriages, 1797–1954, database with images, records that Maletus Sally married Mary R. Gribbens on 8 Sep 1874. The marriage bond from the same database states that this is Maletus Sally’s second marriage.
The 1880 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana records fifty-year-old Malatus [sic], his thirty-six-year-old wife, Rebecca [sic] Sally, the children from his previous marriage, eighteen-year-old Emma, sixteen-year-old Susan, twelve-year-old Bell, and nine-year-old Carrie, and his and Rebecca’s child, four-year-old Margaret Sally. Everyone was born in Kentucky.
The 1900 US Federal Census for Needham, Johnson, Indiana records eighty-year-old [sic], Kentucky-born widower Letus Sally in the household of his fifty-year-old, Indiana-born son-in-law James Dunlap and thirty-four-year-old [sic], Kentucky-born daughter Emma [Sally] Dunlap.
