DEATH OF LANDON ROBARDS.
Landon Robards, an old and well known resident of this county, died at his home near Bargersville, Tuesday, Jan. 29, 1895. He had been a sufferer for some time with Bright’s disease. The immediate cause of his death, was blood poisoning. The funeral took place at Bargersville in the Christian church, Wednesday, conducted by Elder Atwater. Burial at Hopewell.
Mr. Robards was born in Bartholomew county, Ind., Nov. 12, 1826, from parents of Welsh descent. In 1828, he came with his parents to this county, settling in Franklin township. At the age of nineteen he married Miss Emma Combs, daughter of Joseph Combs. To this union were born fifteen children, of whom five are still living. After his marriage, he rented his father’s farm for seven years at the end of which time, he moved to the farm he owned at the time of his death in White River township. This was in 1852, when he bought 80 acres at $15 per acre. He afterwards added from time to time, several other tracts until he became the owner of nearly 300 acres of land.
Deceased was a hardworking, prosperous farmer and highly esteemed throughout the county. He was one of the charter members of the Church of Christ at Bargersville, and continued until his death, a faithful and active member.
