The Reverend Lester Vanest of the Edinburg United Methodist Church conducted funeral services this afternoon at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home Edinburg Chapel for Merrill S. Ridpath, 58, who died Sunday at the Bartholomew County hospital in Columbus after a two-year illness.
Burial was made at Rest Haven Cemetery with state officers of the Loyal Order of the Moose lodge serving as pallbears.
Mr. Ridpath was a past state president of the Moose Lodge and currently was deputy supreme governor of the Southern Indiana Loyal Order of the Moose. He also was a 25-year Mason in the Edinburg lodge and a 32nd degree Mason.
Mr. Ridpath retired as a foreman at Arvin Industries, Inc., in Columbus where he had been employed 36 years.
Surviving are the widow, the former Lillian Coffey, 311 North Clay Street; a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Whited of Franklin route #5; and a grandchild. Also surviving are four brothers, Ralph, Merle and Donald Ridpath all of Edinburg and Kenneth Ridpath of Louisville, Kentucky.
Mr. Ridpath was the son of Frank and Stella Coy Ridpath born in Indianapolis on June 12, 1912. He was graduated from Edinburg High School in 1930 and was married the same year.
