Death of Mrs. Ransdell.
Mary Ransdell, widow of Andrew J. Ransdell deceased, died Sunday at 12:30 o’clock after a long illness. Deceased had been a resident of Johnson county for sixty-six years, having come with her parents from Mercer county, Ky. in 1830, being at that time but fourteen years old. At the time of her death she lacked less than two months of being eighty years old. Nov 22, 1838 she was married to Andrew J. Ransdell.
Through life she had been a consistent member of the Baptist church and was a woman greatly respected by all her friends and acquaintances. Six children survive: four sons, Joseph, George, James, Ben, and two daughters, Minerva Ransdell and Mrs. Demott. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at her late home, conducted by Rev. C. H. Hall. Interment at Hopewell. Deceased was a sister of Melvin Wheat, who in his lifetime, was one of Johnson county’s most prominent citizens and was an aunt of the late Wm. C. Wheat.
