============================
Citizens in Franklin were startled Monday by the sudden death of Wm. H. Ragsdale. But a few days before he had been upon the street and in his usual health. But few persons really knew that he was sick at all. On Thursday of last week he complained of taking a heavy cold with symptoms of a severe attack of la grippe. A physician was called in but at first the case was not considered serious. Mr. Ragsdale, however, did not improve and on Sunday it was stated he had typhoid fever. While sitting in his chair Monday at noon, his wife noticed him attempt to rise and at the same time throw up his hand and attempt to speak. He immediately sank into his chair and expired. The immediate cause of his death was heart failure. No person apparently possessed a stronger constitution, or enjoyed better health, and his death was wholly unexpected. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. E. S. Gardiner assisted by Rev. C. W. Lee.
