Word has been received here of the death of Chester W. Pruitt, 77, of Orlando, Fla: He died at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at his home after a lengthy illness.

A former Edinburgh area resident and farmer, he was the brother of Raymond Pruitt and Mrs. Virgil Wheeler of Edin­burgh.

Funeral service will be con­ducted by the Rev. Richard Heap at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Colonial Funeral Home at Orl­ando where persons may call today. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Orlando.

Pruitt was born at Shelbyville Sept. 30, 1904, the son of Charles and Cordelia Kennedy Pruitt. He married Mildred Shepherd March 21, 1936, and she survives.

Pruitt was a member of Pine Hills Christian Church at Or­lando.

Other survivors include a daughter, Sue Coward of Or­lando; four other brothers, James and Walter Pruitt of Marietta, Evan Pruitt of Mount Auburn and Earl Pruitt of Greenwood, and two grand­children.
