Death of Charles E. Peggs.
Charles E. Peggs, one of the most prominent citizens of Pleasant Township, died at his home east of Greenwood on Monday night of inflammatory rheumatism, after an illness of about six weeks, aged 33 years. Deceased was a candidate for the office of county treasurer before the democratic primary convention last December and the hearty support which he received at the polls testifies to the high esteem in which he was held by the people of our county. He was an influential democrat and by his death the party not only loses a voter but a man who was always ready and willing to stand by the best interests of the party. He was a young man just in the prime of life and his untimely death is mourned by a host of friends over the county.
A loving wife and five small children are left to mourn the loss of a true husband and an affectionate father.
The funeral took place on Wednesday evening at 2 o’clock from the Presbyterian Church at Greenwood, of which he was a member, the services being conducted under the auspices of the K. of P. order to which he belonged.
