Patricia Lou ’Pat’ (Hays) Pattillo
Patricia Lou "Pat" (Hays) Pattillo, 68, died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Franklin and a former longtime resident of Jacksonville, Fla.
She was born July 12, 1935, in Kansas City, Mo. Her parents were Perry Wellington and Mildred Vivian (Laffity) Hays. She married James Elmer Pattillo on April 24, 1954, in Memphis, Tenn. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Robin Lou Nolan of Franklin and Lei Ann Slack of Venice, Fla.; two sons, James E. Pattillo II of Lake Alfred, Fla., and Joel Edward Pattillo of Savannah, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She graduated from Redford High School in Detroit in 1953 and attended Florida Junior College in Jacksonville, Fla.
She was employed as a typesetter and layout specialist for 30 years and served as president and CEO of MBP Printing in Orange Park, Fla., until her retirement in 1995. She was a civilian editor of an armed forces newspaper and a broadcaster for several programs on the Armed Forces Radio Service in Newfoundland. She was also a journalist for Foghorn Station Paper in Memphis, Tenn. She had two articles and a short story published by St. Johns Community College in Jacksonville, Fla.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Franklin and Middleburg Presbyterian Church in Middleburg, Fla., where she was a charter member and served as an elder, deacon and Sunday school superintendent. She was active with the Cursillo and Southport Great Banquet movements.
She was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
The Revs. Peter F. Jessen and June Barrow will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Madison St. in Franklin. There will be no calling. Burial will be at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens in Jacksonville, Fla. Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home in Franklin is handling arrangements.
