Miss Ida Parsons, aged about 23 years, of Macafee, Ky., but who for some time past has been making her home with Mrs. Belle McClellan, in this city, died Wednesday morning from the effects of a dose of morphine which she had taken sometime during the night previous. Whether or not the drug was taken with suicidal intent is not known. She left the McClellan home early Tuesday evening to go to the home of her cousin, James Parsons, two miles north of town, but did not arrive there until about one o’clock Wednesday morning. Her whereabouts in this interval is not known, but when she arrived at the Parsons home she was crying and complained of being sick, but said nothing about having taken poison. She went to bed and the family retired. About 6 o’clock Wednesday morning when they went to inquire after her condition she was found to be unconscious. Drs. Dobyns and Wood were summoned and worked with her several hours, but their efforts to revive her were of no avail and she died at 11:45 o’clock. If the poison was taken with suicidal intent no cause is known for the rash act.
