BLANCHE’S CROSSING.

––––

It is with regret that we chronicle the death of Miss Etta Parkhurst, which occurred on last Thursday evening. Although she had been ill for several months she had only been confined to her bed a few days. The funeral services were conducted at Mt. Pleasant church, after which the remains were interred in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

Lienretta [sic], 14 year old daughter of Daniel and Martha Parkhurst, died at their home south of Franklin, July 17th after a lingering illness of consumption. Funeral services were conducted at First Mt. Pleasant church by Eld. Geo. E. Platt, pastor of the Christian church of this city. Etta (as she was familiarly known) was a model young girl whose example would profit us all by imitating. Her sweet and loving disposition won her friends wherever she [was] known, always pure in thought, word and deed. Her great love for father and mother, brothers and sisters, was demonstrated by her desire to have them ever near her during her sickness and when she was about to take her final departure she said “stay near me I want to tell you something,” but which remains to be told when they meet in the “Home over there.” Although young in years her plans for her future had been made. Her greatest desire was to live a Christian life, especially was she devoted to her Sunday school but she has gone to join the great Sunday school. So to the grief stricken family we say, cheer up, for this world is full of darkness.
