OBITUARY.
Lula Mabel, daughter of George and Cerena Owens, was born Dec. 7th, 1866. Lula was ever a kind-hearted pleasant child and her winning words and pleasant face will long be remembered by those whose pleasure it was to know her. Her mission during the short life she was permitted to live among us, was to scatter deeds of kindness and words of cheer. Early in life she gave her heart to Christ and united with the 2nd Mt. Pleasant church during the pastorate of the late Rev. G. H. Elgin. Though burdened with humanity to the degree that she sometimes erred, yet she delighted in her church services and seldom failed to speak a word when the opportunity was afforded of her love for her Saviour and her desire that all might walk in the way of life everlasting, especially those of her own home circle. Though of short duration, her life bears the marks of a true Christian. Although it was her lot to suffer affliction for several years, yet she bore all without complaining. About six weeks ago she fell a prey to that dread disease, typhoid fever. This she bore with marked patience and resignation until God gave her rest on the morning of April 17th, 1891.
A full blown rose plucked by His hand from our hearts and home and transplanted by his throne there to shed its fragrance throughout eternity among the redeemed of the Lord. Age–24 years 4 months and 10 days. Funeral services conducted by Rev. P. O. Duncan at Second Mt. Pleasant church. Text Hebrews 2-6. After which we laid her body away to await the resurrection morn in our beautiful city of the dead.
