Death of G. M. Overstreet, Jr.
G. M. Overstreet Jr. died Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at his home on Monroe Street. He had long been an invalid, but was able to go around until a few weeks prior to his death.
Deceased was born in 1842 in the Hurricane neighborhood. He was a member of Co. F Seventh Indiana regiment and served three years. At one time he was mayor of the city.
Funeral services will take place this afternoon at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall.

The will of the late G. M. Overstreet, Jr. was probated Monday. It names Mrs. Overstreet as executrix without bond. The household goods, $1,000 in addition to that allowed her by law, the rents and profits of the 182 acres farm, west of town, for her support and the children, are bequeathed to her. When the oldest child attains majority age, the estate is to be divided, one third to the widow and one sixth part to each of the children. Estate is estimated to be worth $12,000.

In Memorium.
The following resolutions were adopted by Wadsworth Post No. 127, G. A. R., Dec. 9, 1897:
Whereas, Two members of this Post have recently answered to the last roll call, and
Whereas, Comrade G. M. Overstreet, Jr., served during the entire war with such marked heroism and stern, yet cheerful, fidelity to duty, as well as having served as the first commander of this Post with great ability, and
Whereas, Comrade Chas. Ryker in the ranks of two regiments, gave to the government that intenseness so characteristic of his life, therefore
Resolved, That we again recognize the fact that out number is being rapidly depleted by the hand of death, and we are reminded that what is done for the comfort of the soldier of the late war must be done soon.
Resolved, That as the country owes its wealth, its honor, its existence, its self [sic] to such men as these, we, the members of Wadsworth Post No. 127, after ordering our hall draped for thirty days, do also in this official way express our high regard for these comrades and feelings of our own deep loss.
Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes, that they be furnished to the local press, and that the adjutant be instructed to send a copy of the same to each of the afflicted families, with words expressive of our profound sympathy in this hour of desolation.
