Mary M. (Wilson) O’Donald
Mary M. (Wilson) O’Donald, 73, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood.
She was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Columbus. Her parents were Oral and Lena (Miller) Wilson. She married John W. O’Donald. He preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Jana L. Conner and Shawna Templeton, both of Fishers, and Mary Beth Ryan of South Bend; a son, William Bradley O’Donald of Greenwood; a brother, Robert C. Wilson; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Baase; and a brother, Claude Thompson.
She was an art teacher for 28 years at Perry Township School Corp., retiring in 1995. Prior to that, she was an art teacher for two years for Indianapolis Public Schools.
She was a member of University Heights Christian Church. She was president of the Indiana Federation of Art Clubs. She was a member of Scottish Rite Widows Friendship Circle, Honored Ladies Club at the Murat Temple, Southside Art League, International Platform Association and Marion County Homemakers’ Club. She was also a member of Psi Iota and served as secretary of Zeta Sigma.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Indianapolis and master’s degrees at Butler University and Herron School of Art.
The Revs. Derek Dickenson and Gary Johnson will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at University Heights Christian Church in Indianapolis. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township.
