Irene Oaks, 81, Edinburgh, died this morning
at Johnson County Memorial Hospital, Franklin,
after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 19, 1904, in Edinburgh
to Joel and Ara (Hubbard) Breeding.
She married J. Hubert Oaks Jan. 13, 1920.
He died in 1974.
She was a member of Edinburgh First Christian
Church and its women's fellowship.
She had lived in Randolph County from 1942
to 1979.
A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Edin-
burgh First Christian Church with the Rev. Hugh
Owen officiating. Friends may call at Eskew-Eaton
Funeral Home, Edinburgh, from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh.
The family requests memorials to the American
Cancer Society.
She is survived by two children, John Jay Oaks,
Yorktown, and Delores Wright, Edinburgh; 10 grand-
children and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard
Lee Oaks.
