==============================
Gone Home.
In memory of Ethel Morgan, who died July 13, 1898, age seven years and one month.
This lovely bud, so young and fair,
Called hence by early doom,
Just come to show how sweet a flower
In paradise would bloom.
Ere sin could harm or sorrow fade
Death came with friendly care,
The opening bud to heaven conveyed
And bid it blossom there.
Heaven retaineth now our treasure
Earth the little casket keeps,
And the sunbeams love to linger
Where our little darling sleeps.
Indianapolis, July 20.

Note: The Johnson County Indiana WPA Birth Index, 1882–1920, referencing Book H-2, page 229, records that a white female infant was born to Clinton Morgan and Jennie McClain on 16 May 1891. This date differs by a month from that on her tombstone, shared with James Clinton Morgan, which records her parents as J. C. & Jennie Morgan.
