OBITUARY.
Little Grace Moore, the subject of this sketch, was born May 18, 1888, died Sept. 23, 1896, of diphtheria, aged eight years, four months and five days. Grace was the eldest child of Claud and Nellie Moore and was dearly beloved by them, but the angel of death came and called her. Though her many friends could not see her, their thoughts were of her and this is the message she leaves for them:
Do not weep my dearest parents,
For your darling Gracie dear,
I am now happy mamma
Living with the angels fair.
Would you have your little Gracie
Fight again the giant Death
Suffer o’er what she has suffered
Gasping for one painless breath!
When the time has come for sleeping,
Then I know you will miss me then
But dear parents don’t be weeping,
For I’ve gained a portal fair.
Ah, the veil is light between us
Naught but life doth now divide,
Death can cut the cord between us
And you can see the other side.
Yes, you loved your darling dearly,
I was all the world to you,
But I’ve crossed the veil of Jordan
To a land that’s free for you.
Tell my papa when you meet him
That in heaven I’ll look for him,
Tell my mamma when you greet her
That in glory there isn’t win.
Tell them that no black of mourning
Ever should be worn for me,
But thanksgiving, joy and blessing
That I’ve gained a home that’s free.
A Friend.
