FRANKLIN Millard Ray "Monty" Montgomery Millard Ray "Monty" Montgomery, 85, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Todd-Aikens Health Center in Frank- lin. He was a resident of Franklin. He was born Feb. 26, 1916, in Baxter, Tenn. His parents were Millard Fill- more and Alta Mae (Beasley) Montgomery. He married Freda Pauline Funkhouser on Oct. 21, 1934, in Mill Shoals, Ill. She survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Rae Montgomery; a brother, John R. Montgomery; and two sisters, Estelle Montgomery and Elma Sines. He was a 1934 graduate of Fairfield High School in Illinois. He was president of Culligan Water Conditioning, serving Franklin and surrounding areas, from 1950 until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Franklin, Franklin America Legion 205, Franklin Elks Lodge 1818, Franklin Masonic Lodge 107 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and Hillview Country Club in Franklin. He founded and funded the Millard R. and Freda P. Montgomery Nursing Scholarship Trust in 1998. He was an avid fisherman, and he enjoyed playing golf. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as corporal. The Rev. Peter F. Jessen will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Franklin. There will be no calling. A private family graveside service will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Arrangements are being handled by Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home in Franklin. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Madison St., Franklin, IN 46131.
