Franklin Republican, May 29, 1891
EDWARD MONCRIEF.
Edward [sic] Moncrief, brother of Prof. J. W. Moncrief, died last Friday, after an illness of about a week.
Although he had been in poor health for several years he was confined to his bed only for a few days. Funeral services were conducted at the house by Prof. C. H. Hall, on Saturday. The remains were then taken to Cave Spring cemetery, three miles south of Sardinia, for interment. Mr. Moncrief was about thirty years of age at the time of his death.
The greater part of his life was spent in the northern part of Jennings county. About four years ago he with his mother removed to this city where he has since lived. He was an active member of the Baptist church. He was honest, industrious and painstaking in all his dealings. He made a host of friends during his stay in Franklin who were made to sorrow by the announcement of his death. He will be remembered as an honorable young man and a zealous Christian.
