Miss Florence Middleton, after a lingering illness of consumption, died Friday night at her home in this city. For the past thirteen years she had conducted in partnership with her sister, Hannah Middleton, a millinery store in Franklin. Her health began failing about one year ago. Deceased was born near Nineveh, where she became a member of the Christian church. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the residence, conducted by Rev. C. R. Hudson. Burial at Nineveh.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Franklin, Franklin Township, Johnson County, Certificate and Record of Death, Health Officer’s Record Number 16, page 156 records that Florence Middleton died at about 11 o’clock p. m. on 4 May 1900 in Franklin, Indiana from hepatic carcinoma of unknown duration, aged fifty-one years. She was female, white, single and a milinner [sic], born in Indiana. Her parents’ names were unknown , both born in Kentucky. The informant was J. E. Van Nuys. Florence was buried in Nineveh on 6 May 1900, E. G. Barnhizer, undertaker.
