Death of a Highly Esteemed Young
Lady Last Week
Mrs. Elsie Means died about noon last Friday at the home of her father County Commissioner William Neal, in the east part of the city.
Her death was the end of a long and painful illness and meant for peace and rest. She had borne all her sufferings bravely and patiently. Many hearts were saddened by her death. She had spent her life in Franklin and all were her friends. She was bright, amiable and kind and as a result was always popular. She was twenty-five years of age. In June ’96 she was married to Ora Means, a young druggist who came here from Shelbyville. He survives her as do her father and mother, her sister Mrs. Chas. Beck and brother A. O. Neal of the city schools. She was a member of the Baptist church.
The funeral services were held at the residence Sunday morning and were attended by many friends, numbers from Shelbyville and Indianapolis being present. The services were conducted by Prof. E. S. Gardiner.
There were many very beautiful floral offerings. These were carried from the residence to the cemetery by six young lady friends of the deceased, Misses Edna Wood, Elsie Peek, Nelle Brown, Will Davis, Nelle Valentine and Lillie Dunn. The pall bearers were Ferd [sic] Stickler, Chas. Berlin, E. O. Collins, Field Sholler, Arthur Alexander and Arthur McDaniel.
