Death of J. D. McLean.
J. D. McLean, the well-known grain buyer at Needham station, died Monday afternoon at his home in that place. He had been in poor health for some time, but not until the last week was he unable to go around and attend to his work.
His death was due to a general breaking down of his system, no doubt hastened by recent financial embarrassments. It had been apparent for some time that his health was being undermined.
Mr. McLean was one of the best known citizens of the county, and during his life had done an extensive grain business. He will be greatly missed in his community. He was born in Greene County, Tenn., in 1834, and came to this state with his father, Daniel McLean, settling in the edge of Shelby County. Almost his entire life was spent at Needham. He leaves a wife and four children, viz: Squire T. McLean, Mrs. John Alexander, James McLean and Mrs. Birdella Boner.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 o’clock at Second Mt. Pleasant conducted by Rev. James Ricketts of Marshall County.
