OBITUARY.
Fannie May, daughter of Melvin and Susan Ransdell, was born Nov. 4, 1869, and departed this life March 7, 1894. When she was sixteen years old she united with the Rocklane M. E. church under the pastorate of Rev. Jamison. She was married to Marion S. McClain, Aug. 31, 1886, and lived at Rocklane until 1890, when they moved to Greenwood, soon after placing her membership there. Her devotion to her church and her God was best known by her presence at his worship and her strong faith and great joy in the presence of death. Her last hours were filled with praise, exhortation and song. She realized the call of the Master and so expressed it in song until she would fall asleep and awaken to renew her song. Like Moses, she went over the top of the mountain, at the age of 24 years, four months and three days. She left a husband, son, mother, three brothers and three sisters to mourn her departure. Funeral was held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Greenwood M.E. church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Westhafer.
We’ll cover with flowers our sister’s tomb,
But they will fade away,
While the love of sister in memory shall
bloom,
Till we meet her “some sweet day,”
For we know that she has gone to sleep,
In the arms of Jesus’ love,
And waits for us, who sadly weep,
In our Father’s home above.
Sister
