OBITUARY.
Belle McClain departed this life July 15th, 1891, at her home in Pleasant township, two and half miles east of Greenwood, aged 20 years, 2 months and 24 days. She had been a sufferer from stomach trouble for several years but was not confined to her bed except for a few days. Her sufferings were intense but she bore them with patience and said in her last hours if it was the Lord’s will she was ready to go and leave all with Him. Belle was loved by all who knew her. Five of her classmates carried her remains to their last resting place—Eunice Hester, Cush Tilson, Ollie Wilson, Annie West, Cora and Lyda Sheek. Her teacher, Mr. Robison, and little friend Jessie Wilson, accompanied the pall bearers each with a beautiful floral tribute. Many flowers covered the casket. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. W. Tinsley, at the Rockland M. E. church.
