The death of Wosson McCaslin occurred Friday morning about seven o’clock. Mr. McCaslin lived about two miles west of this city and until Thursday evening about five o’clock had not complained of any ailment whatever. He then said he had a severe pain in his right side and a physician was called, who succeeded in relieving him and he slept until the next morning when all at once he sank easily and peacefully away. The direct cause of his death was supposed to be the formation of a clot of blood in his heart. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and he was a most consistent Christian man. He was born in Scott county, Ind., June 18, 1827. In the fall of the same year his father moved to this county and settled just west of this city. In 1856 he settled on his present farm. He married Miss Jane O. [sic S.] Winchester in Nov. 1850. There have been born to them seven children, all of whom survive except Florence [Anna Florence], who died a few months after her marriage to Rev. A. H. Shroyer [sic Charles O. Shirey] which occurred three years ago. The funeral occurred Monday morning at the Presbyterian church at 11 o’clock, the services being conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall. The burial was at Greenlawn cemetery.
