WILLIAM WINCHESTER McCASLIN.
McCASLIN. — William Winchester McCaslin was born at the old family home near Pleasant Hill church in Johnson County, Ind., December 20, 1867. At the age of eleven years he united with the Pleasant Hill church and remained a consistent and faithful member until he was transferred to the church above. He united with the church under the ministrations of Rev. J. H. C. McKinney, who, several years ago, was called from labor to his reward. November 8, 1893, a few years after the death of his father and mother, he was united in marriage to Miss Effie Kimble, of Manchester, O. To them was born a daughter, who is now but a few months old. Bro. McCaslin was an earnest, consecrated Christian, intensely loyal to Christ and the church. He was long the superintendent of the Sunday school, the corresponding secretary of the Christian Endeavor Society and a steward who did his duty. At the time of his death he was a member of the Standing District Committee of the Indiana Conference. Our departed brother was far from being ambitious to hold official position, but was willing to work anywhere the church put him. He could always be depended upon. He built himself a new house, and was carried out for burial on the first anniversary of his removal into it. He never realized the plans he had matured for this life. Life’s completions have been withheld from him. We rejoice that his highest and best aspirations will be realized in the world to which he has gone. He will be greatly missed as a church member and a citizen, but our loss is his gain. He leaves a heart broken wife, a child, a brother, and a host of friends to mourn his departure. He left us abundant evidence the he has gone to God. His last words were “Good, good…” It is supposed he was trying to say "good by" to weeping friends. Farewell, dear brother. We will meet thee in heaven.
