Word has been received of the death and funeral of Donald McCaslin, of San Jose, Calif., a former resident of the Hopewell community and Franklin. Interment was in Oak Wood cemetery at Santa Cruz.
Mr. McCaslin, a veteran of World War I, died in a veterans hospital in Oakland, Calif., Friday, July 9, after a long illness.
He was born in the Hopewell community and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Harvey McCaslin. He received his education in the Hopewell and Franklin schools and for a number of years lived on West King street. When a boy he had been a carrier for The Star.
For 15 years, Mr. McCaslin had been a member of the sales department of the California Prune & Apricot Growers Association. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian church, Memory Post No. 339, American Legion, and the Masonic lodge of Creston, Wash.
The survivors are the widow, Mrs. Lula McCaslin, a son, Donald McCaslin, his mother Mrs. Anna McCaslin, of Santa Cruz, and one brother, Woodford W. McCaslin, of Panama.
He was a nephew of the late Everett McCaslin.
