The funeral of Mrs. Massey occurred Sunday in Union township. Deceased was well advanced in years, death resulting from nervous prostration.
Notes: The 1870 and 1880 US Federal Censuses for Union, Johnson County, Indiana record William H. Massey (born about 1841), his wife Jemima Massey (born about 1841) and their children. Their oldest child, Fielding, was born in 1862. There are no other Massey families in Johnson County.
The Owen County Indiana WPA Marriage Index, 1850–1920, referencing Book 28, page 425, records that William H. Massey married Jemima Layman on 7 Mar 1860.
