John Maley died at his home in this city Wednesday morning of paralysis resulting from acute rheumatism. He has been affected for about a year although his most serious symptoms have appeared within the last week. He was reported dead on Sunday but rallied for a short time. He returned two weeks ago from Hot Springs, Ark., where he went to try the efficacy of the water. He thought this had benefited him but he grew rapidly worse after his return to this city. He was married June 24, 1891, to Miss Minnie Thompson, she surviving him. His remains were taken to Edinburg last evening, to the home of Mrs. Jennie Thompson. The funeral will occur there this afternoon at two o’clock under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity of this city and the Knights of Phythias lodge of Edinburg. Elder Small and Rev. T. O. O’Neal will conduct the religious exercises.

Mr. Maley was the son of John and May Maley and was born in Shelby county July 9, 1861. He located in Franklin in 1890, coming here from Boston, Mass. He was engaged in the saw mill business and had just removed his plant to Dayton, Ohio, where he expected to locate in the near future. He was highly esteemed for his business integrity and social qualities and his many friends will greatly miss him.
