Betty McCaslin Rites Monday
Martha Elizabeth “Betty” McCaslin, for many years a reporter with the Franklin Evening star, died this morning at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital at the age of 73.
She had been in failing health for the past five years. Her last address in Franklin was 1854 West Jefferson Street.
She was born in Franklin township on September 2, 1902 and was the daughter of W. Edgar and Mattie [sic, Hattie] Mae (Halstead) McCaslin. She attended Hopewell High School and was a life-long member of the United Hopewell Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Paul (Louise) Sievertson, Franklin and five nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church. They will be conducted by Rev. Leon Smith.
