SERVICES ARE HELD FOR IDA McCASLIN
Last rites were conducted in the Vandivier funeral home Tuesday afternoon [15 December 1953] at 2:30 o'clock for Mrs. Ida McCaslin, widow of the late U.S. McCaslin.
Services were in charge of the Rev. Emory Fulling, of Indianapolis and former pastor of the Whiteland Methodist church, and the Rev. A. W. Stoneburner, present pastor of the Whiteland Methodist church. Burial followed in Greenlawn cemetery.
The casket was carried by Roy Sharp, Don Hargert, Herman Hartley, Marvin McMurray, Francis Baker and Curtis Corn.
Died Saturday
Mrs. McCaslin died in the Johnson County Memorial Hospital at 7:30 o'clock Saturday night where she had been a patient about a week. Her health had been failing for four years.
A native of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. McCaslin had been a resident of the Whiteland community for many years and after the death of her husband in 1947 she had made her home with her daughter Mrs. Charlton Williams.
Three daughters [sic], a son, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive.
Rites Announced For Ida McCaslin
Funeral services for Mrs. Ida McCaslin, widow of the late U. S. McCaslin, are to be conducted in the Vandivier mortuary Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home any time and are invited to attend the rites.
Death came to Mrs. McCaslin in the Johnson County Memorial Hospital at 7:30 o'clock Saturday night where she had been a patient about a week. She had been in failing health for four years.
Born In Kansas City
The daughter of Elijah and Sarah Jane Heckman Brown, she was born in Kansas City, Mo., Sept. 10 1862.
In 1887 she and Mr. McCaslin were married and they were the parents of one son and two daughters. For many years they had lived in the Whiteland Community and after the death of Mr. McCaslin in 1947 she had made her home with a daughter Mrs. Charlton Williams in the Hurricane community.
Mrs. McCaslin was a member of the Whiteland Baptist church [sic].
Those who survive with Mrs. Williams are another daughter, Mrs. Edna Dugan, of Franklin; a son, William McCaslin, of Beech Grove; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
