SMITH’S VALLEY.
Jeff Lowe, of Des Moines, Iowa, was called here by the death of his mother.
The funeral of Aunt Harriet Lowe took place last Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the family graveyard near the residence.

The funeral of Grandma Lowe occurred last Saturday morning. Several from here attended the funeral.
Mrs. Andy Smith and Mrs. G. M. Worsham were summoned to Franklin Wednesday as witnesses to the will of the late Grandma Lowe.

OBITUARY.
Harriett Goodrich was born in Belmont County, Ohio, Dec. 2, 1811. She moved to Indiana with her parents at the age of three, settling in Shelbyville. She was married to Abram Lowe Dec. 2, 1830, coming immediately to Johnson county to the Lowe home, where she resided continuously until her death.
To them were born nine children, seven of them preceding her to the other world. Two sons are living, one in Des Moines, Iowa and one in Kearney, Neb. She leaves one sister living in Shelbyville, Ind., and one brother in California.
She united with the Salem M. E. church in 1844 during the pastorate of John V. R. Miller. She lived a devoted Christian life and died Aug. 24, 1899, loved and respected by all who knew her.

Notice is hereby given that the undersigned, the executor of the estate of Harriet Lowe, deceased, will sell at public auction on
Saturday, October 28th, 1899,
at the late residence of said deceased, about three miles west of Stones Crossing and about one and one half miles southwest of Smith’s Balley, the following described personal property to wit:
12 head of hogs, corn in the field, hay in the barn, 1 carriage, harness, vegetables, household and kitchen furniture and other articles not herein mentioned.
TERMS OF SALE.
On all sums of over five dollars a credit of twelve months will be given the purchaser giving his note with approved security, waiving valuation and appraisement laws and with attorneys’ fees. All sums of five dollars and under cash in hand.
No property to be removed until terms of sale are complied with.
Sale to begin at 10 o’clock a. m.
