Death of an Old Resident.
Wm. W. Lewis, the well-known real estate man died at 11 o’clock Tuesday night at his room over S. A. Wilson’s office. He had been sick only a few days of dysentery. Owing to Mr. Lewis’ extreme age and enfeebled condition, the disease would not yield to any medical agents. Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 8:30 o’clock at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. T. N. Todd. Burial at Greenlawn.
Deceased was born at Zanesville, O., April 20, 1820. Oct. 4, 1853, he was married in this city to Mary J. Herriott, daughter of Ephraim Herriott, Rev. Jas. W. McKee officiating. Mrs. Lewis died in 186?, leaving one son, Ira, now of Laporte, Ind. Mr. Lewis had never remarried. He was a man of quiet genial manners, and one who merited and possessed the respect of all. His form had long been a familiar one in Franklin, and in his death Franklin loses another of its “old and respected citizens.”
