Nelson Lawrence (colored), a former resident of this place, died in Indianapolis last Friday night and was buried in Franklin Sunday morning. He was a Christian in every sense and doubtless is in heaven.
Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Certificate and Record of Death, [Indianapolis, Marion County] page 31 records that Nelson Lawrence died on 13 April 1900 at his residence on Norwood Street from anaemia of unknown duration, aged sixty-one years. He was male, colored [sic], and widowed, born in Kentucky. His parents’ names were unknown, both born Kentucky. The informant was Dr. S. A. Furniss. He was buried in Franklin, Indiana on 15 Apr 1900, Flanner & Miller, undertaker.
