"Jimmie" Law, age 64, were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Burkhart Funeral Home, with Masonic services conducted in Greenwood cemetery. The Rev. J. Kenneth Forbes, former pastor of Greenwood Methodist Church, was in charge of the services.
Mr. Law, vacationing with his wife in Maryland, suffered a heart attack Sunday, February 16, and was admitted to Frederick Memorial hospital in Frederick, Maryland. On Friday morning of last week, he was stricken with a coronary and his death was pronounced at 4:30 a.m.
Born in Greenwood on March 21, 1899, Mr. Law was a son of the late James and Jessie Park Law. He had spent his entire lifetime in Greenwood and had been most active in civic activities and interested in the civic improvements of the city. Mr. Law was united in marriage to Elvyn Williams in 1937. He was owner and operator of Law's restaurant and tavern here for many years. "Jimmie", as he was known by most townspeople, was always friendly and interested in talking with his many acquaintances.
He was a member of Greenwood Lodge No. 514, Free and Accepted Masons; Greenwood Chapter of Royal Arch Masons and the Greenwood Lions Club. Surviving with the widow are one stepson, Earl Hamilton, of Speedway; one sister, Mrs. Luella Thompson, 539 North Madison Avenue, Greenwood, and two step-children.
