Mrs. Martha King, long a resident of this city, died at her home in the north part of town Saturday night, age about eighty years. She was born in Herodsburg, [sic] Ky., March 8, 1820, and had lived in this city since 1856. The funeral took place Monday afternoon from her late residence.
Note: The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920, page 112, referencing Book H-18, page 8, records that Mattie King, a seventy-eight-year-old white female, died 15 Jan 1898 in Franklin.
