Mrs. George W. Kerlin died Thursday of last week at her home in Union township, aged sixty-six years [sic]. Deceased was a daughter of the late Judge Keaton of Nineveh township. Funeral services were held Saturday morning from the residence, conducted by Rev. John C. Miller. Burial at Hopewell.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Health Officer’s Record Number 1, page 134,records that Susan Keaton Kerlin died from asthenia* caused by duodenal carcinoma of eight or ten months duration, complicated by carcinoma of the liver, at 9:00 p. m. on 14 Dec 1899 in Union Township, Johnson County, Indiana, aged sixty-one years, three months and twenty-two days. She was female, white, married and a housewife. Her father’s name was William Keaton and her mother’s maiden name Sarah Johnson. Both parents were born in Virginia. She was buried in Hopewell cemetery on 16 Dec 1899, undertakers Covert & Covert.
