GERTRUDE ISLEY
Gertrude Isley, 102, of Edinburgh, died April 21 at her home.
She was the widow of Earl Isley who died June 21, 1955. They were married April 17, 1954.
Funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Dennis W. Shufelt Monday at Eskew Funeral Home. Burial was at Rest Haven Cemetery.
Mrs. Isley was born December 9, 1880, the daughter of John and Margret Leslie Hill. Her father was a farmer in Shelby County and later owned and operated grain elevators in Amity, Taylorsville and St. Louis Crossing.
She married Alfred Waltz in 1898. They owned a farm in Camp Atterbury before it became a military facility. He died in 1939.
She then married Earl Isley in 1954 and they owned a farm in Edinburgh on State Rd. 252 and Mauxferry Road. He died June 21, 1955.
She was a member of English Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a half brother, John M. Hill of New Whiteland; local nieces, Mrs. Virgil Rutan of Columbus; Mrs. Florence Barker of Franklin; great-nieces, Dorthea Gundrum & Josephine Henderson of Edinburgh; a great-nephew Bill Hill also of Edinburgh, four step-grandchildren and several other relatives survive.
