Sarah Icenogle, residing on Grant street, died last Thursday of typhoid malaria, and was buried Friday. On Saturday her husband [Christian L. Icenogle] died of apoplexy and was buried Sunday. Rev. O’Neal of the M. E. church, officiated in both cases.
Note: The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index 1882–1920 records on page 102, referencing Book H-17, page 42, that Sarah Icenogle, a 67-year-old white female, died 29 Aug 1895 in Edinburg, and that her husband, Christian Icenogle, a 70-year-old white male, died 31 Aug 1895.
The Record of Returns of Marriages in the County of Switzerland, Indiana records John L. Icenogle, Christian and Sarah’s son as giving his mother’s maiden name as Cofner on his 22 Aug 1883 marriage to Belle Kensett.
