OBITUARY.
The subject of this sketch, Mrs. Matilda Parkhurst Hunt, was born in Henry County, Ky., April 21st, 1819, and emigrated to Scott county, Ind. Staying there about one year they returned to their old home in Kentucky, remaining there about four years and returning again to this state in 1825.
The family settled on the farm now owned by Thos. W. Woollen, in Nineveh township, where they lived about fifteen years, her father at this time purchasing and moving to the farm now owned by Tunstall Hunt, on which she spent the remainder of her life, except the first year of her married life, which was spent in Franklin township. She was married to Tunstall Hunt, August 27th, 1857. By her marriage she became foster mother of two small boys, never having any children of her own. Her care and devotion to them was as kind and tender and the interest manifested was the same as had they been their own.
She united with the old school Baptists in which fellowship she lived a consistent and honored member. She died September 6, 1890, after a lingering illness of several months. The funeral services were conducted by Elder P. K. Parr, after which we laid her body in Greenlawn cemetery to await the resurrection morn, when we hope to meet her together with many dear ones who have gone before.
