Mary M. Hockersmith
Mary M. Hockersmith died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Paris Memorial Nursing Home in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Hopewell and Lake Lemon in Monroe County.
She was born in Bartholomew County. Her parents were Roy and Ethel (Neal) Wilson. She married Delgar T. Hockersmith. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Hollinghead of Greenwood; a brother, John Wilson of Naples, Fla.; two sisters, Irma VanCleave of LaGrange, Ill., and Esther Moore of Marco Island, Fla.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Nolan Hockersmith; two brothers, Paul Wilson and Russel Wilson; and one sister, Dorris Sprague.
She was a graduate of Scipio High School.
She was self-employed for 30 years as owner of Franklin Cleaners. She also owned and operated Merle Norman cosmetic supplies and beauty shops in Franklin, Whiteland and Columbus.
She was a member of New Unionville Baptist Church in Monroe County.
The Rev. Paul Palusko will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Thursday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery.
