“Woody” Higgins Dead.
John W. Higgins, better known as “Woody” Higgins, died Feb. 12, at Independence, Kansas. About ten months ago he went to that place to live with relatives where he was taken sick with la grippe and died.
Woody Higgins was born in Hensley township. He was sheriff of Johnson county from 1861 to 1865, serving two terms, and made an excellent officer. His funeral and burial took place at Independence.
