Kenneth C. Hendrickson
Kenneth Carroll Hendrickson, 83, died this morning at his residence in Franklin. He was a lifelong resident of Franklin.
He was born Sept. 20, 1910, in Needham Township. His parents were Loral “Tude” Hendrickson and Johnetta (Myers) Hendrickson. He married Martha Josephine Steinbarger June 21, 1936, in Franklin. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Douglas Brent Hendrickson of Franklin; a daughter, Nancy Jane Jones of Franklin; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Merrill Hendrickson in February 1966; and a sister.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1928 and attended Franklin College.
He was employed as a clerk and rural mail carrier for the Franklin Post Office for 37 years, retiring April 30, 1973.
He was a member of Hillview County Club, where he had won the Johnson County Golf Tournament in 1940. He also won the Indian Spring Golf Tournament in 1980. He also was a 50-year member of Franklin Masonic Lodge 107, and a member of Tabernacle Christian Church, where he had served as a deacon and Elder Emeritus, and taught the high school Sunday school class and was co-teacher for the Fellowship Sunday school class. He also was an Eagle Scout with Troop No. 227 and served as assistant Scout Master, Neighborhood Commissioner and Commissioner of the Whetzel Trace Division of Scouting.
The Rev. John G. Williams will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 8 p.m. by Franklin Masonic Lodge 107. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
