Ray Henderson dies Thursday, rites Saturday
Ray Henderson, 84, Indiana Masonic Home resident, at Franklin, died unexpectedly at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the Scottish Rite building in Franklin.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at the Masonic Home chapel by Rev. Charles Funkhouser, the Masonic Home chaplain.
Friends may call at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home from 2 to 5 pm. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the First Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Born Jan. 15, 1888, in Johnson County to Asbury and Mary Jane (Bay) Henderson, Henderson married Leola Wheeler in 1917. She died at the Masonic Home in 1969.
He had attended Johnson County public schools and was formerly of Trafalgar. He operated an ice station at Trafalgar for 20 years and later owned and operated a shoe repair shop.
He was a member of the Trafalgar Masonic Lodge 413, F&AM and entered the Masonic Home through that lodge April 24, 1968. He was also a member of the Trafalgar Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy White of Greenwood and Cleona Vermilya of Lafayette; a son, Clyde Henderson of Edinburg; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hester Brown of Franklin.
