DEATH’S HARVEST
––––––––
A. S. HELMS.
––––––––
Mention has heretofore been made of the illness of A. S. Helms, who recently returned from Porto Rico [sic]. For several weeks he has been at the home of relatives at Morgantown, gradually growing weaker from consumption. Sunday night death came to his relief.
For a number of years Mr. Helms served as justice at Edinburg and he also practiced law. In the latter part of 1898 he was appointed to a position in the postal service in Porto Rico [sic] and went with his family to that island. It was there the disease was developed and caused him to return home. He had two years of office still to serve, had his health not failed.
He leaves a wife and two children, a daughter and a little son.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock.
